How long does your editing take?
The length of time I spend editing or proofreading a document completely depends on the project. Short marketing materials can take less than half an hour—but manuscripts can take two to four weeks.
When should I contact you?
As soon as possible! I am often booked a week or two out, but my schedule varies because I do a variety of projects for different clients. It’s best to contact me early so we can hash out the details of the work and I can reserve time in my schedule for your project.
What do you need to know about my project?
The basic elements I need to know about your project include the following:
What type of project is it (manuscript, marketing materials, article, etc.)?
Is the document complete and ready for copyediting or proofreading?
When do you need to have copyediting or proofreading completed?
Has the document already been edited (primarily for manuscripts—has it undergone a developmental and/or line edit yet)?
What is the word count?
What program will I be working in (copyediting is often done in Word, and proofreading can be done in Word or PDF)?
What stylebook do you prefer?
